3 June 2025, Wolfenbüttel – Mast-Jägermeister SE has expanded its production at its headquarters in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, with an investment of 6.7 million euros. After eight months of construction, the new maceration area was officially put into operation today. This will further develop the production infrastructure and create the basis for responding flexibly to market requirements in the future.

New centrepiece of production: efficient and future-proof

The new facility comprises eight modern maceration vessels and eight additional collection tanks. An existing part of the building at the Wolfenbüttel site was converted to accommodate the new tanks, which were installed on an area of around 550 square metres. The plant operates according to the tried-and-tested process that has formed the basis for the production of the famous herbal liqueur since Jägermeister was invented over 90 years ago.

Maceration is a central process in the production of Jägermeister. The 56 natural ingredients – including herbs, flowers, roots and fruit – are controlled, ground and then mixed with an alcohol-water mixture. This extraction process, which takes place at room temperature (known as the cold maceration process), takes several weeks. The result: high-quality macerates that are combined to form the so-called Jägermeister base. This is the only way to create the Original Jägermeister after ageing the base several months in oak barrels.

The launch of the new maceration area marks a significant technological advancement, featuring optimized geometry and an automated cleaning system. This technical advancement enables more efficient and resource-saving production while ensuring maximum process stability.

‘We are not only investing in technology, but also in trust – the trust of our employees, our region and our consumers worldwide in a product that has stood for the highest quality for 90 years,’ explains Christopher Ratsch, Member of the Executive Board at Mast-Jägermeister SE.

Loyalty to the location with a view to the future

As part of the expansion, Mast-Jägermeister SE made a conscious decision in favour of a conversion in the existing building – and thus in favour of the more complex and cost-intensive but at the same time more resource-efficient option. With the new maceration plant, the company is setting the course for further growth and emphasizing its clear commitment to the Wolfenbüttel site.

“Wolfenbüttel is our home – this is where our roots lie and where we are shaping the future of the Jägermeister brand. With the new maceration plant, we are consciously investing in our headquarters. This is not only a clear commitment to the region, but also a signal to our employees: We stand by our traditional location – today and tomorrow,” says Florian Rehm, entrepreneur and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mast-Jägermeister SE.
